Who is FAST?

The Florida Association of Science Teachers (FAST) is the state's largest non-profit professional organization dedicated to improving science education at all levels, pre-school through college. The association's membership includes science teachers, science supervisors, administrators, scientists, representatives of business and industry, and others interested in science education.

It is the position of the Florida Association of Science Teachers that quality science education is important for all students facing a world where everyday decisions depend more and more on a sound knowledge of science. It is our goal to produce a society that understands the technology of its day and can make meaningful decisions as scientifically literate citizens. FAST is an advocate for science education in a variety of forms.

CONFERENCES: An annual conference for Science Educators is held each October. The emphasis is on excellence, describing outstanding programs, innovative teaching techniques, research findings, new materials and equipment, and providing make and take workshops.

AWARDS: Each year an extensive search is conducted to reward excellence in science teaching at all levels - elementary, middle, and high school science educators. These teachers are recognized publicly and with monetary awards provided.
