As a member of FAST you have the opportunity to become part of a large community of science teachers throughout the state of Florida. At our
annual conference you will have the opportunity to present and learn from not only other science teachers but also experts in their fields from all over the state.
You will be kept apprised of professional development opportunities, grants and updates from the DOE, links to other science oriented organizations around the state
and country as well as internationally. You will have access to the member’s only portion of the FAST web site where you can view the FAST newsletter and journal.
Teachers frequently ask, "What does my membership in F.A.S.T. do for me? What does
my $20.00 provide?"
Here are several reasons that make it a bargain at any price:
- An annual conference that features a "trades fair", dynamic presentations, hands-on
workshops and a general membership meeting.
- An award-winning journal that is published three times a year.
- A newsletter that gives you those in-between bits of information relative to science
education in Florida and across the nation.
- A board of directors who meet regularly on behalf of science education to coordinate
activities at all educational levels.
- A voice at the national level as the Florida affiliate of the National Science Teachers
Association.
- An educational effort directed at the Department of Education, the State Board of
Education, and the Legislature.
- A professional association of dedicated individuals and representatives on statewide
boards, committees, and panels that shape educational policy in Florida.
- Recognition and awards for outstanding individuals and groups for their contributions
to science education.
- A place in the flow of information as it reaches us from its many sources.
Who are we? We are teachers, supervisors, curriculum designers, administrators,
and business professionals. We have a common goal for a better Florida through programs
of science education.
